Currently the rate of medium and large businesses having distributed operations in Vietnam is very large (this is called a corporation model). These businesses operate in form of a corporation or a company with many branches. Subsidiaries and affiliates (referred to as units or member units) with dispersed working locations could operate in form of independent accounting or dependent accounting. Companies with this corporation model poses special requirements for accounting and business management software, which is gathering and transferring data (data consolidation) to provide full company reports or corporation reports ( hereinafter referred to as corporation reports). For units with independent accounting, data need to be transferred from the member units to the company office on a periodical interval as required (weekly, monthly, quarterly...). For those with dependent accounting (for example: points of sales), the demand for data transfer is more frequent or higher than the demand to run the software directly through the remote connection of lease line or Internet.
The methods of data synchronization from the unit members of EFFECT 2.0 and EFFECT 3.0
EFFECT Accounting Software has the function of copying data (on the version installed in the unit) in any period (from …… to …...). The copying result is only one copied file which has been compressed and specially encoded. This file is then transferred to the corporate office in many ways such as: Via email, Dial Up, flash disk, CD ... At the corporate office, the corporate software version (which manages database of all member units) will copy the data from the compressed file into the data area of the corresponding unit in the database. After copying is completed, the detailed data of member units can be viewed and printed out upon request.
In case the remote enterprise does not have ADSL and use modem for Dial Up connection instead, you can use the mapping function of Windows operating system by simply clicking the connection icon, then pressing the button on the software, then the data would be transmitted to the central point.
More automatically, EFFECT 3.0, EFFECT 4.0, EFFECT 5.0 have the function of automatic data transfer according to time setting. The data transfer can be done even by telephone connection (Dial Up), or through the Internet when the system is equipped with VPN or simply equipped with a static IP address. For example, each member unit will automatically transfer data at a certain point of time at night, and on the next day, all the data of member units in the previous day will be available at the corporate office, hence the staffs at the corporate office and branches do not have to take any further action.
EFFECT 3.0, EFFECT 4.0, EFFECT 5.0 have a better option of using the Replication function of Microsoft SQL Server. This function synchronizes the the unit‘s database to the database on the server located in the corporate office. One condition is that the company must be equipped with VPN .One advantage of this method is that data is synchronized with high security even if the transmission line is not stable enough. One weakness is that all remote locations the software and database must be installed. The companies with large branches are suitable for this method.
For EFFECT 4.0, EFFECT 5.0, the lowest cost plan is to run the software remotely via VPN, which will promote efficiency for companies with branch or remote operational site of stable transmission (such as fiber optic cable). With this option, your software needs to be installed at the center point and the remote points will directly access the center point everyday through the internet as a workstation on a local network (LAN).
Particularly for EFFECT 5.0, the software will optimize the data processing speed of units with corporation model when collecting data of the unit member, better user authorization management as well as friendlier user interface.
